This site presently uses a patched copy of Nicolium as the Front End. The complete set of patches is provided right below. Some of these patches will be useful to other Nicolium sites.
The patches are applied, and this page is rebuilt, automatically when Nicolium is rebuilt. So, this page is guaranteed to be up-to-date and correct.
This Nicolium 2.00 patch:
a. Isn't suitable for upstream.
b. Is suitable for some instances.
By default, Nicolium pops up "click here" buttons to fill timeline gaps that appear. I prefer auto-fill. The related option settings that I see don't work for me. If that happens to you, this patch can be used to force auto-fill.

This Nicolium 2.000 patch:
a. Isn't suitable for upstream.
b. Is suitable for some instances.
By default, Nicolium inserts panels with "click here" prompts to fill timeline gaps appear. I prefer auto-fill because the frequent pop-ups are distracting.
The related option settings that I see don't work for me. So, I've used this patch to force auto-fill. Disclaimer: This patch was created by Google AI. It seems to work, regardless.

This patch simply changes the default theme colors.

This Nicolium 2.00 patch:
a. Should be looked at by upstream. In my instance, the "site_title" and "siteTitle" variables don't work reliably. So, I've needed to patch the correct values into the code.
b. Is partly appropriate for other instances that have the same issue. Admins will want to use a similar patch modified to state their own instance names.
c. Changes the Federation explanatory text to a shorter version. This part is optional for upstream and other instances.

This Nicolium 2.00 patch:

This patch changes the default option settings. This is important for me [and possibly for others] because Nicolium stores most option set- tings in transient storage that disappears when I delete browser data. [I and others do that regularly for security purposes.]

This Nicolium 2.00 patch:

b. Might be useful, with changes, to others.
This patch tries to implement or support 4 goals:
1. Increase default font sizes.
2. Add a little padding inside the post border [when the border is visible].
3. Try to prevent the font size from jumping when a post is focused. This change is only partly successful.
4. Change the color of the border around focused posts from red [which the author finds distracting] to blue.

This patch hides the Translate button. This is desirable for some instances because the button appears in some browsers whether or not the Translate feature is installed or working.
